❥MY REVIEW: This was my first Sophie Kinsella novel.. and I LOVED it!
Why I’ve waited so long to read a Sophie Kinsella novel, I have no idea, but I’m glad that I started with ‘My Not So Perfect Life’ it was such a wonderful novel, I truly enjoyed every bit of it!
I read it both on my kindle, as well as listened to the audiobook, ugh the audiobook for this novel is the way to go!
We meet Katie, a fresh face in the workplace, eager to learn and take on new projects. Her dream to move to London from her farm house in rural England town, comes true but the London scene is not all that it seems.
We meet Demeter, Katie’s boss, who we automatically dislike. She’s got a very ‘show off’ personality, and she has the perfect life, money, friends, the big house, and the perfect family..
Or does she..
After Katie gets fired from her job, she moves back home to help her dad and their family business, it’s like a bed and breakfast sort of situation and when Demeter shows up with her family, Katie is outraged. She uses this unique opportunity to play small prank on Demeter, or two.. it’s what she deserves.. right? Then Katie finds out Demeter’s boss Alex has also shown up to the farm to FIRE Demeter! But Demeter insists she’s done nothing wrong.
Katie has to make a choice, help Demeter, or believe what she’s always believed. That Demeter only cares about herself, and not at all about her employees. How will she know she’s making the right decision?
We learn, we shouldn’t judge, because we never know the real story behind someones actions, and we learn that the truth will always make it’s way and it’s worth fighting for.
Katie learned a lot about herself during her journey, and in the end, she became a better version of herself. The truth will bring you happiness, true friendships, and sometimes even love…
